Licence & credits

This project is All Rights Reserved. That is a deliberate choice, made for a specific reason, and it replaced an earlier open licence. Below you will find the licence itself, the history behind it, where this project stands with CD PROJEKT RED, and credit for the work studied along the way.

The licence

No licence is granted to any person to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of this software, in whole or in part, without prior written permission from the copyright holder.

Access to this repository, for example as a collaborator, tester or viewer, does not by itself grant any of the rights above. Any permission granted is personal, non-transferable and revocable at the copyright holder’s discretion, and does not extend to redistribution of the software to third parties.

This software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and noninfringement. Why it changed

This project started under GPL-3.0. On 23 August 2026 it moved to All Rights Reserved. Here is why, plainly.

GPL-3.0 gave anyone with repository access the right to redistribute the software. Before Phase 3, builds go to a closed group of testers. A licence that lets any one of them publish the alpha is incompatible with that. The change was not about hiding the work: the devlog still describes how everything is built, including the parts that went wrong.

CD PROJEKT RED

Cyberpunk 2077 and Night City are trademarks of CD PROJEKT S.A.

NCPD: First Response is unofficial fan content, made under the CD PROJEKT RED fan content guidelines. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by CD PROJEKT RED.

The mod does not modify vanilla .archive files. It adds its own scripts, tweaks and a few archives of its own — the fleet photos, for example — alongside the game’s, instead of altering the assets the game itself ships with.

Credits and prior art

Nobody builds a police mod for this game from nothing. The work below shaped what this project attempted. Rather than a single thank-you list, each entry states exactly how it relates to this project.

NCPDFRby Im2Slothy
Licensed CC BY-NC 4.0, and explicitly not used as a code source. Its approach was described from its public README only: no source code was consulted and nothing was transcribed.
NCPD Duty Expansion
Studied as prior art for how others have framed going on duty in Night City. No code taken.
Law Enforcement Overhaulby Yorpie
Studied as prior art for police behaviour changes. No code taken.
NCPD and MaxTac Spawn Tweak
Studied as prior art for how spawn behaviour is adjusted. No code taken.
Immersive NCPD Hotlineby anygoodname
Studied as prior art for calling in police attention. No code taken.
NCPD Prevention Police Enhancementby Katane
Studied as prior art for work against the Prevention system. No code taken.
ClaimVehiclesby DeepBlueFrog
A public example. Its TweakXL YAML confirmed that a records gate was the right approach to the problem. Not affiliated with this project, and no code taken.
psiberx
Public tooling and gists, which are a large part of why writing anything in this stack is possible at all.

The project’s own rule, and the reason this list is so precise: study yes, transcribe no.
